Character Back-story / History:
Xiaoyu was born during the harsh winter months late within the early years of recorded history. She was quite weak and was not expected to survive her first months of life. As her mother had not survived her birth. Yet despite her weak nature she survived the harsh cold winter inside of Northern Japan. Despite that her life was still harsh as she was the youngest of nine children. At the age of seven she began to see figure darting within the trees around her family’s meager farm or around the shrine in town. She however did not tell anyone about this gift instead she began to hang around the shrine as the frightening figures did not follow her there. At the age of fourteen she was out when a travelling merchant with a penchant to take what he wanted decided to take the young woman. Xiaoyu fought back and the next thing she knew she was looking down at her body as it lay face down inside of a shallow pit in the ground. She screamed out and was upset with what had happened when she was approached by a tall older gentlemen. He had a sword at his hip and he came to sit beside her. Talking to her as a father would their child. Learning about him and his job. He stood up and raised his blade. “Come and find me within the Rukon young one. You will gladly be accepted into the Demizu family.”
With a flash of bright light she would find herself inside of the Rukongai. Asking a woman who passed her where she was she was told that she was within the third district of the Rukongai. Quickly she asked about the Demizu family and the woman smiled pointing toward a large manor on the edge of the third district. It was something that she was not expecting as it took her a few days to get there. Yet she felt no hunger, felt little pain and yet was enjoying her time within the district. Approaching the gate the same shinigami appeared at the gate. A wide smile appeared on his face as he guided Xiaoyu into the grounds and began to explain what all that happened and all the things needed for a shinigami to live within this world. He mentioned how he had noticed the fact she had been seeing things inside of the human world and explained what it was she had.
It took her several years to begin to feel the hunger and all the signs that the man had told her to watch out for. So now her father as she had grown to call him gave her the test needed and she was shown that she has spiritual pressure and it was growing rather rapidly as her hunger started to grow to what it should be. The books within the library of the home became her refuge when she was not heading to the local shinigami training grounds. After learning everything she could she was given a blank zanpaktou and within a few weeks she was already fully in control of the blade and she had begun to hear a voice speaking to her, but she did not notice nor pay attention to it.
Yet during her time at the small training academy she had become friends with another young woman named Khilee. After she graduated the academy she was placed into the same division as her ‘father’ and her friend was placed within the Shihonen division of the Gotei. With their paths diverted by this fate Xiao and Khilee attempted to stay as close as they could. Mostly by attempting to get paired on missions when they needed to go out on them. It was when Xiao was out on one of her missions that she first started hearing voices within her own head. First it was a simple whispering that she could ignore, but through the years it slowly got louder and louder to the point where she could not ignore it anymore. During one of these missions she got split up from her friend, and stumbled upon her friend unconscious with many wounds across her body. Running over to her friend she knelt down to check on her friend. That is when she was attacked and hit with a large blast of fire on her lower back. It burned through her shinigami robes leaving its permanent mark across her. Turning around she saw a hollow with a wicked grin on its face. Xiao was blocking out the pain that was coursing through her mind as she brought her sword up to fight this hollow. That is when she heard the voice scream out to her louder than it had ever done in the past. "Call out my name. If you do you will be able to save yourself and your friend. Call upon the name of Taifuu." A name screamed across her mind and from what she knew if she heard a name to call upon it would either be her zanpaktou speaking to her or she was going crazy. Hoping the first was true she looked down at the unreleased zanpaktou and placing both hands on the hilt she spoke the name of her zanpaktou. A swirl of reiatsu twisted around her and around her sword as she felt it changing. Grasping it tight she felt a new weight and power coming from the now changed blade. Looking at it she noticed that it was now a large mace and she confidently looked at the hollow. "You will die from hurting my friend." With that the hollow attacked Xiao. Xiao raised her mace and raised her right hand after removing it from the mace. She then pointed her fingers at the beast and spoke. "Byakurai." As soon as it left her mouth a crackle of electricity shot from her fingers and into the hollow. It howled in pain and stopped its attack. Sensing this opportunity she stuck hard and fast. Swinging down her new mace as hard as she could on the mask of the hollow she heard the shattering sound of the mask dissolving. It took a few seconds after the hit landed that the beast fell to the ground started to dissolve into the air. That is when she let the pain she had been repressing crash onto her which caused her to collapse forward. She stayed there in pain for a few minutes until she heard her friend speak up. "That was amazing Xiao... I guess our training has helped. I think though we may need slow down on it though for a little while."
They were soon rescued and sent to go recover inside the medical division. During that time as she recovered she spoke to her sword a couple of times within her inner world. This was her first ever trip within and she was taken aback at the grandeur of it. Talking to her zanpaktou she learned that she had correctly called his name and was not being allowed to use what she knew as her shikai. It was several weeks before her burns healed to a point where she was allowed to leave and return to duty. Returning to her barracks she was approached by her father and was told she was going to be seated as she has a verified shikai. With that the taicho gave her the 15th seat within the division. Not a very prestigious rank but one she could be happy with. She visited her friend in the medical division hospital with the news and they were both thrilled. Not much longer after that her friend was released and they began training again. No more than a week or two after Xiao had heard the scream and awoke her shikai her friend did the same thing, but it was during a training session between the two of them. Xiao hugged her friend in congratulations on the feat and starting the next day they both began training against one another using their shikai. It was many decades of this fighting and them slowly raising through the ranks until they both where 5th seats of their respected divisions.
At this time they were both dispatched to go and fight a rather strong hollow that had taken up a den inside of the human world. The two friends were confident in their abilities as they had been training with their shikai at the point for a century, and headed out to fight and kill this hollow. They snuck in to the warehouse the hollow had turned into its den and where disturbed by what they saw. A rather large hollow was standing staring directly at the spot they had entered through and was covered in the blood of what had to of been several earlier shinigami. Xiao looked at her friend who looked back at her. In a low voice Xiao spoke to Khilee. "We will need to destroy the mask fast... This beast looks incredibly strong." With a nod her friend her friend moved in front of Xiao as Xiao raised her right hand palm forward and pointed it at the hollow. Nodding again to Khilee she vanished with a shunpo as Xiao started an incantation to a powerful kidou "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!. Shakkaho. With that a large fireball leapt from her hands and hit the hollow on the side of its face awakening it, and angering the beast at the same time. It started moving just in time to catch Khilee as she exited her shunpo off to its right. With a quick swipe of its claws it caught her good sending her flying across the room and into the wall beside Xiao. Xiao saw her friend land and went over to her. Khilee spoke to Xiao. "I’m hurt already finish this beast before it gets us both..." Khilee then passed out and Xiao gripped her zanpaktou and spoke her release. "Daerou sono enkai touza uwadzutsumi ue temae, Taifuu." With that her mace appeared within her hands. Raising her mace she pointed it at the charging hollow. Then without saying anything a large blast of water came off the head of the mace hitting the hollow knocking it down and opening it up for a quick strike with her zanpaktou on its mask. She felt the mask start to crack and break underneath the strike but it was not enough. It awoke and tossed her across the warehouse and left her impaled on a broken railing on the second story catwalks that surrounded the open floor. As she looked down she watched as the hollow went toward her friend and stabbed her friend clean through with its claws.
Tears stung Xiaoyu’s eyes as she watched the scene before her. The hollow opened its mouth and was about to take a bit out of her friend when Xiao swung her mace and caught the railing that held her in place. She tumbled to the ground behind him and she glared as she staggered to her feet, Raising herself up she looked at the gloating hollow, and she raised her mace and attacked the beast once again. This time she dodged his swipe and hit the beast as hard as she possible could square in the mask shattering the remnants of the mask. As soon as she knew the hollow was dead she rushed to her friends side to find her in a large pool of blood and her breathes coming ragged and rapid. Xiao opened her friends uniform to check out the wounds. Upon seeing the wounds she clasped her hands to her mouth as the wounds where deep and untreatable. Her tears started up again as she looked at her friend who had reawaken. Looking down at the wounds she looked up at Xiao and she raised her hand wiping a tear from Xiao's face. With that she let her arm fall back down to her side and then she spoke to Xiao "Please... don..t .. worry.. about.. me.. Xiao.. Yo..u ..a ..re.. strong. Just... keep.. mov..ing alon..g ... Be .. strong. For.. both.. of.. our.. dre..am..s...." With that Xiao shook her friend but she knew it was to no avail. Her friend was dead and she was going to have to move on and carry on both of their dreams. Xiao looked at her as the tears came from her eyes and fell onto her friends cheeks. “You.. cant.. go. I.. I loved you Khilee… You can’t just die on me…” She stayed holding her friend as the medical corps finally arrived to come and retrieve Xiaoyu and her friend.
Xiaoyu’s stubbornness reared its ugly head as she refused medical attention other than to fix her immediately life threatening injuries healed up. Until her friend was interred into the ground she would not leave her side. After her friend was placed beneath the Earth Xiaoyu allowed the medical division to finally work on her. Due to her stubborn hard headedness she spent nearly a year inside of the hospital and corresponding grounds. She spent this year doing nothing but communing with her zanpaktou spirit learning its name and beginning to learn her name and her quirks and everything about her. She grew a lot during this time when she was speaking with Taifuu as she did. After this year passed she had been tasked with a new task. To find a so called Kenpachi out within one of the outer Rukon districts. Heading out there she was accosted and yet managed to fight off a group of men with the help of someone who became extremely important to her. Kimiko Nobunaga.
The woman had forsaken her families Noble Status and had wanted to become her own woman without their help. By all appearances she had as she patrolled that district and took the Kenpachi title to help them people instead of intimidate them. Xiaoyu had had a suicidal mindset during this time as she did not want to live without her best friend Khilee but she found someone in Kimiko that she could trust, someone she could care for, and eventually she would fall in love with. Yet it was during this time that she began to see Taifuu out of the corner of her eye. Standing there looking at her, or moving alongside her if she was walking or riding in a boat. It was then she decided to do some research within her father’s library. With Kimiko at her side she learned that it meant she could be on the cusp of a shinigami’s ultimate power. So she would have Kimiko train against her and one day while they trained far off in the Rukon the words scratched into her mind and she screamed out her bankai. The area beneath Xiaoyu scoured and created a small mark on the ground.
As the words were spoken she saw the humanoid form of Taifuu standing before her. She was between her and Kimiko and Kimiko mentioned who the girl was between them. Xiaoyu smiled and explained it to her companion as the spirit stood there. Explaining away what was to happen she nodded and Kimiko left to go gather medical supplies at Xiaoyu’s insistence. The fight began between Xiaoyu and her zanpaktou spirit. It would take several hours until the battle would end. The wind and water would subside around her as the battlefield where she had fought Taifuu had become a five foot deep crater with gracefully cut edges like that of natural erosion. Yet now she felt something new. An exponential growth within her reiatsu and she felt it slowly growing in strength. She had to continue to restrain herself that is until a new threat emerged about a little over 1300 years before current time. The cult that seemingly worshipping the figure they called V had taken hold within some of the outer Rukon Districts and had begun to become outwardly aggressive toward the shinigami. Xiaoyu encountered them after her father’s death. He had died inside of a patrol and his sword had been shattered. She mourned his loss and interred him into the family crypt. It was at this time she alongside her now lieutenant Kimiko Nobunaga and Rebecca Bradford where captured and were told about the rising threat the cult posed. After escaping after a massive battle Xiaoyu called a captains conference of all the heads of the families arriving.
Xiaoyu Demizu along with the other twelve captains; Rebecca Bradford, Akio Murano, Shiba Shihonen, Daisuke Tobiichii, Satoshi Tsukino, Ria Kinfuji, Carva Kuchiki, Xia Zhan, Liu Shoalin, Hayato Saionji, Jin Kamishiro Nobunaga. The heads of all the families had been used to calling of these meeting but this was the first time that Xiaoyu had called for one. As the Demizu’s normally were the most neutral of the collected families. Xiaoyu had come to the conclusion that while their current system worked it did not stop such radical factions from arising. So she proposed a reformation of the Gotei into a structure where the captains all had a voice and could voice what would happen but they would elect a single figure over them to decide things. The rest of the forum of captains agreed with her on the condition that the newly formed Gotei would crush these fanatics. Xiaoyu while not liking the proposition of taking the lives of these people agreed in order to secure a lasting peace. Seeing as this was all her idea Xiaoyu Demizu would be named the first leader of the assembly. The Soitaicho had been created for the Gotei 13 as they called themselves. As they began to ready for war they began to construct the base of operations for all thirteen of their families and those that were trained beneath them around the sacred Sokyokyu Hill. This area was to be known as the Seireitei. Within the grounds they built a place that representatives of the Rukongai would gather and help to keep the Gotei in check. As Xiaoyu had made it a point to create something to act as their counter balance. Something to keep the Gotei honest and balanced. Despite the future chaos this would bring it was a good move at the time as it won the newly created Gotei support of the people.
The war would be a long one as Xiaoyu would have to lead the Gotei on a district by district search. Scouring the countryside and every hole in the ground til they were certain that they had rooted out the dissenters and putting any who resisted to the sword put a strain on the young captain commander. She did not like the bloodshed and yet it was all over her hands. As soon as they had declared the last of the cultists dead she would turn her efforts inward. Remembering the small academy she had been trained within she collected all the families students and using the best craftsmen in the Rukon she constructed the Shinigami Academy. Taking her place at the head of the administration of the Gotei alongside her training of the students of the Academy Xiaoyu for the next eight hundred years things were in peace but unknown to Xiaoyu the very cult that she had helped found. Members had infiltrated the Gotei and the Central 46 structure. Until about thirty years before the Schism War ignited. Xiaoyu had been loved by many and when she had been attacked it sent shockwaves through the Gotei. She had been stabbed and nearly killed while they would be assassin had been subdued by Kimiko who by now had become married to Xiaoyu. The assassin declared that soon that the night would fall and chaos would return with V as its herald. Xiaoyu and the third division captain knew what this meant. Xiaoyu had to recognize the resignation of that captain as she did not want to have anything to do with another war like before.
So Xiaoyu took the resignation and her friend left the Gotei behind leaving for the human world. It was about this time she had something brought to her attention. There was a young girl within the Academy who looked surprisingly like Xiaoyu and her name was Rin Kamishiro. Name of one of the families that had helped her found the Gotei but had fallen away from the Gotei by this point. It brought an interesting thought to Xiaoyu’s mind. One she had shared with Kimiko. She would find a way to have the captain of the twelfth check her blood and compare it to Xiaoyu’s. When he did this she found out that she was somehow mother to this young girl and yet she knew for a fact she had never given birth. The twelfth division captain explained to Xiaoyu how such a thing could be possible and alongside Kimiko Xiaoyu would allow him to conduct tests to duplicate something that already seemed to of happened. Xiaoyu made it a point to ask the Central Forty Six with the evidence she had to take the girl into her care. This was to happen when the peace and serenity came crashing down around her and all the civilians of the Rukon and Seireitei.
It was a crisp autumn night when Xiaoyu was called out to the Sokyokyu Hill. Arriving she found herself standing before five men shrouded in all black and three members of the Central Forty Six. Greeting the men with formalities she asked why it was that she was there and they smiled at her. They asked her to step down from her position and to install one of their choosing. Xiaoyu was obviously incensed at their demands and denied them. That is when the five revealed themselves to be five long thought dead shinigami. Her eyes went wide and then narrowed as they began to pull their blades and demanded once more she step down. Reaching for her own blade Xiaoyu’s eyes flashed as she activated a kidou and began a speech to all those within the Seireitei and Rukon Districts. The fighting would be hard and more intense than it was during the initial war within which the Gotei was formed.
No sooner had the kidou began to fade then she was attacked by all five men at once. The first of which began throwing large chunks of the hill itself at Xiaoyu the second began to sends large waves of concentrated Reiatsu at her. Each of the men attacked her with seemingly their strongest attacks before Xiaoyu could fully react. Except for one thing, The Soitaicho knew of the Cicada and the figure in the middle of their combined attack vanished in a puff of smoke and Xiaoyu stood behind them on the top of the execution cross. Taking in a breath she exhaled and a hurricane force wind pinned all eight of the men onto the ground. As the men were jammed into the ground the ground itself began to give way as they all burst back out and charged at Xiaoyu.
The battle was intense and unknown to Xiao such battles were happening all across the Seireitei. Many would be struck down and many more injured. Even the Execution Hill itself would not survive the conflict as Xiaoyu in a final desperate attack sent the entire hill crashing down onto the five assailants crushing them all but as their lives were extinguished each of them exploded with massive force creating a crater where the hill used to be. Xiaoyu barely escaped that battle with her life. Being found by Kimiko as she was walking out toward their home far off in the Rukon. Going to her home she recuperated from the initial attack upon her and the Gotei began to reform into smaller more mobile pockets around the Rukon as the Seireitei became a battleground. Xiaoyu had some good news though as all of the students at the academy at the time of the wars start had managed to survive. Thanks in most part to her daughter and another student had held off the squad that had been sent to kill them all. Only knowing that they had survived when one of the teachers got the pair out of the rubble the next morning.
Rin had been brought to her and she had begun her training when she received the news from the twelfth captain. He had managed to survive the initial assault and had good news for her and Kimiko. Meeting him about a year after the war initially broke out he presented the pair with a daughter. One that was a mixture of Xiaoyu and Kimiko. Xiaoyu was ecstatic as she took Lhin from him and held her close. He also gave Xiaoyu a few pills and medical things that will help Lhin along and that will help Xiaoyu feed her. Ever grateful Xiaoyu thanked the other captain and would then raise both Rin and Lhin as best she could. Even when the pair outgrew her in size and stature Xiaoyu would do what she could to keep the war far from them and yet she could not do that forever.
About a hundred and fifty years into the war Xiaoyu was jumped during a massive battle. The rain around her hung in place and the winds became deathly quiet as she had been stabbed. Collapsing forward to the ground onto one knee she could see the twisted steel protruding through her stomach. A curdling feeling began to fill her gut as she smelled the smell of ozone fill the area around her and then came the immense pain. A loud cracking echoed out from the blade that had pierced her through. The electricity from the blade coursed through and out through the leg that was half submerged inside of a puddle. The sound of sizzling and Xiao’s voice screaming out in pain shot out across the eerie silence that the deadened winds created. The electricity stopped almost as quickly as it had begun. The sword was hurriedly pulled from her and Xiao found herself not having anything to counterbalance herself and she pitched forward onto the rain soaked ground. Glancing down her body still sparking ever so slightly as she did so she noticed her haori was destroyed and the bottom of her inner robes had been burned away along with her right leg just above her knee. Pretty much the entire part of her leg that had been submerged was gone. Seeing that her leg was gone caused Xiaoyu to collapse and her body twitched with the electrical discharge slowly leaving her body.
Xiaoyu would awaken several days later within a hidden medical facility. She looked around frantically as Kimiko and Lhin stood there. Placing a hand onto her chest Xiaoyu would use her other hand and run it down and feel nothing on her right side just below her knee. The moments came back into her mind and she clutched her blanket but was calmed by the presence of her youngest daughter and wife. She was approached by one of the healers and given her full prognosis. She lost her leg just above her knee, she had nerve damage within her arms and surviving leg. Taking a bunch of time she decided that it was time for her to step aside. She gave away her powers during the war to Hirato Murano. A fellow she had gave plenty of trust to during the war and before. So Xiaoyu stepped aside and began to assist in planning attacks and assaults alongside other smarter people within the Gotei. Victories came slowly but after another three hundred years of so of combat the war was over.
When the war was over there was open questions as to what the old veteran would do. Xiao had been there for the birth of the Gotei and helped see it through its darkest hours. Now she was at a cross roads. She could of retaken her position as it had been a conditional leadership role she had given Hirato but she did not. Instead she set up the rules of succession for the Soitaicho and she stepped aside and to a new goal. Returning to the grounds where the Academy had stood and she told those that had assembled there with her that she was going to rebuild the academy and run it herself.

Physical Description {Pictures allowed}:
Xiao stands at a meager five foot three. She has white hair and icy blue eyes. Her face is young looking and unscarred despite her age. Some describe her as having a somewhat 'innocent' looking face. She wears her hair up inside what most describe as two small wings that are about three to four inches in height and are located almost directly back from her ears. Around her neck she wears a special silver necklace with a crystal that is shaped identically to the one she has attached to her zanpaktou. Fitting her appearance she has a rather normal looking bust not much more than an average B cup. Her has several disfiguring scars upon her body. The largest culprits are the stab wounds that are upon her back. One of which was a through and through stab wound with matching wound beneath her bosom. Alongside the stab wound there is a faded and healed over burn upon her lower back just above her tailbone area. Despite her bookish appearance she is surprisingly strong due to the war having made her into a much more capable fighter. Her arms and legs are long, slender, and well toned despite her penchance of being a bookworm. She takes particular care to keep her hands as to her they are the most important thing. Even taking time to make certain they are well cared for.
She wears the traditional shinigami robes and a custom designed and manufactured captains haori. Her personal touches have not been lost within her modifications to her robes. She has the arms cut with two large openings for when she uses kidous it does not damage either the captains haori or her inner robes. Around her arms she has two dark blue wraps circling up her arms with her elbows and forearms left free. These are tied together on her biceps where they hang down about four inches from her. As she is only barely above five feet tall she carries her zanpaktou across her back with the hilt of her zanpaktou being over her right shoulder. It is attached to her main outfit through a beautifully crafted silken sash that is a light blue in color. The sash attaches to a sash she had made to hold her uniform closed and tight to her body. It attaches right above her left hip, and it is tied together in a tight knot that in a pinch she can undo.
Whenever she has off hours within the Seireitei she likes to wear a rather simple looking light blue kimono. The kimono has a pattern around the lower sections depicting a series of waves washing toward shore indicating her love of the water. She also lets her hair down normally when relaxing and at full extension it reaches the small of her back. Normally she can also be found with a small satchel on her waist that carries a single book. What that book is always changing as she reads many different topics of fluctuating interest. She also likes to carry a simple cup that she uses for her own tea which she drink religiously.
During missions to the human world inside her gigai she has a real flair to show off her creative side. Her gigai wears small crystal earrings that hang from the pierced earlobes. Around the neck of the gigai is a duplicate to her regular necklace. Her top is a white and light blue tube top. She has a small crystal stud pierced through her belly button, it is also the same style and color as the other three crystals on her person. Around her waist she wears a type of skirt where she has it tied at her left hip with a dark blue sash. The skirt then wraps around her right side fully covering her right leg. It covers all of her 'nether' regions as she tries to be modest even in her gigai.
Personality:
Xiaoyu was a shy and timid girl until she had to grasp her destiny. When she took upon the mantle from her adoptive father was when she began to come out of her shell and a very confidant woman. Most of the time however when she is off duty she would prefer to be left alone or spend time with her daughters and wife. Even despite this Xiaoyu does have moments where she is quieter than expected from one with her power and former position. She is loyal to the dream of her adoptive father and those of her fallen friends. She will do whatever it takes when it comes down to it to get those dreams to occur.
Accompanying her shy nature she is naturally attracted to being rather studious, quiet young woman. Almost always preferring the company of books and paperwork over those of other shinigami unless they are breaking bread or sharing a cup of her favorite tea. Despite her bookish nature she will deviate from plans when the situation calls for it. She is not against improvisation as that is how some of those closest to her say her mind works. That type of reading though has also made her believe that there is usually situations that her books will not cover. In those situations she will rely upon the others nearby and as soon as she figures out what they are planning she will jump up and help lead whatever plan it is. Normally when it comes to leading a situation or leave it for someone else to do it she will jump up so long as it follows what she knows.
Her loyalty to others is only evident in those she allows close to her. Those who she does befriend see a really happy bubbly woman who has her moments where she becomes super serious and allows her natural brain to shine through. Xiao always has a smile on her face though as to her the world is still something perfect despite the amount of death and betrayal she has seen and been proxy to. Some would call her naive to the way the world works, but to those people Xiao would just smile and tell them that she always believes in the best. When she is inside a bad mood or has something bother her facial expression usually changes to an indifferent look to it. She is also prone to when off duty just staring off into the sky whether it be day or night. Most of the time though she is usually deep in thought about something that is bothering her whenever she acts this way. Normally she can keep the stare up for what seems like hours but to her it is only a matter of minutes, and she quickly snaps out of it. She usually has the answer to what is usually bothering her when she went into the trance. Her smile will return to her face when she comes out of the trance as well.
Despite how she acts super serious all the time there are moments where she acts like a fool and unwinds. More often than not it occurs with her being inadvertently hit on. This illicit a deep crimson blush on her face her beginning to babble a little incoherently. Other times she will punch the person on the shoulder or arm in fun but accidentally hit them as hard as she can. When frustrated by something simple she will huff and puff like a spoiled brat but if people are watching she will attempt to keep these outbursts down to an absolute minimum. In other words she will try to internalize the outburst as best she can. This is usually accompanied by her stomping the ground with her fists balled up tight. The only other thing that really gets her riled up is when someone calls her a child. Her appearance can be a deterrent for others to call her anything else but when they do she will explode at them with an outburst of expletives and sour language.
---COMBAT---
Fighting Style: Xiao prefers to fight at range; using kidous and her zanpaktou as an absolute last resort. Her use of kidous are a combination of both binding and destruction kidous to keep her opponent at a comfortable range. Usually when she connects with a binding kidou and the opponent is immobilized is when she moves in fast with a shunpo and attacks using wither her released or unreleased zan. Her tactics for fighting a longer ranged opponent is modified from this. She will utilize her zan's released state and powers to create the exploding towers of water underneath her opponent causing them to constantly dodge around. Then she will strike with a binding kidou and attack directly once again. Whenever she becomes flustered in combat though her tactics change and she will toss at her opponent some of her weaker destruction kidou’s in the hopes they get caught in one and she will be able to return to her usual tactics.
As she uses kidou’s as her primary attacks during combat she usually takes a little while to try and understand her opponent. That usually involves her dodging around their attacks if possible. As she 'feels out' her opponent like this she will make feint attacks at any openings the opponent leaves for her to exploit. Occasionally she will toss in a lower leveled kidou in to keep the opponent off balance and guessing. Whenever she is done 'feeling out' her opponent she will usually hit them with a mid level kidou and then release her unreleased zan into her shikai'd state.

Zanpakuto Name: Taifuu {Typhoon}
Zanpakuto Appearance: Xiao's sealed zanpaktou is a regular katana in every way except for the coloring upon the entirety of the katana. Firstly the sheath appears to be made of a smooth coral like material. The coral has been discolored and is a dark blue in color. On both the top and on the bottom of the sheath there are silver colored coverings that protect both ends. Secondly the hilt is wrapped with a dark blue colored silk like material, it is intertwined with a light sea blue color treated leather like material. The guard upon her blade is shaped like a teardrop and when held correctly the pointed end is always pointed at Xiao. Upon the guard there hangs two small blue crystals. They hang down from the cutting edge side of the blade about two to three centimeters. Lastly her blade is teal in color other than the cutting edge which is a fine white in color.
Zanpaktou Inner World: Xiao's inner world is one of a constantly churning sea surrounding a small island. Upon this island is a temple dedicated to her zanpaktou spirit. The temple is made completely out of coral and has random bits and pieces of sea life randomly clinging to it as if there had just been a large wave. She refers to her inner world as hitoshirezu tengoku {Hidden Paradise}. On the island surrounding the temple is an ever fluctuating eco system of differing birds and trees. Above the sky of the island is a constant sunny sky while the surrounding ocean is a perpetual typhoon. At the peak of the temple there is a large open aired altar that looks almost like a sacrificial altar. That is where she has ever found Taifuu, but the exception to this is when she walks around within her mind she sees the spirit flying in the calm air surrounding the island.
When Xiao's mood swings the sky and waves also change. When upset or angered the waves and wind on the island become uncontrollable and splash over the island destroying the trees and wildlife. Whenever she is in a good mood the seas are barely above a steady wave pattern and the wind does not howl. When saddened or in a melancholy state of mind the island slowly sinks into the ocean swallowing up all the trees and wildlife
Zanpaktou Spirit Appearance: Her spirit is of a large water bound phoenix. The majestic bird is a deep darkened blue with flickering shades of lighter blues hidden within its feathers. Its beak and talons are razor sharp and are as the spirit puts it 'symbols of strength'. This bird is almost an exact duplicate of Xiao's intelligence but where she is timid and shy he is boisterous and outgoing. On many an occasion Xiao has gotten into arguments with her zanpaktou spirit about doing things other than secluding herself or reading; when others were out having a good time and had invited her. Whenever she visits the bird atop its temple she is always greeted warmly and with an honor she always forgot about.
Yet whenever Taifuu wishes she can take the form of a human. When she does she stands nearly seven feet tall and has long flowing light blue hair. The hair extends down to her waistline. Her form is always rolling with light mist from within her robes. Her robes are a dark blue with silver trim and silver sash around her waist. Her hands are narrow almost talon like and her skin is a little rough to the touch.
It has revealed to her over the years that it retains almost all of the knowledge that she reads despite her not ever asking him to. So that mean that during her days Xiao likes to communicate with Taifuu as she considers him a wise council. This often comes in handy as if she becomes stumped upon a subject normally she would only have to ask Taifuu. Usually though her talks with Taifuu eventually spin off into intellectual debates with the spirit, and she forgets the entire reason she came into her mind to speak with him.
Shikai Release Phrase: Daerou sono enkai touza uwadzutsumi ue temae, Taifuu {May the ocean current cover over you, Typhoon}
Shikai Appearance: Upon uttering her release phrase her sword vanishes and is replaced by a rather menacing looking mace. It is now the about half the length of her original katana and to her feels more natural to use.
The mace is dark blue and white in color. The hilt and main stock of the weapon are a deep blue in color, but as you near the head of the mace is slowly lightens up into a glass like look to the color. Inside the mace head the dark blue has turned into a light sea blue that extends throughout the mace head. At the connection point between the shaft and the mace head there is a large blue gem. The mace head has two large prongs that contour down the sides of the shaft about a quarter of the way back down the shaft. There are two crystals identical to the one that hung from the unreleased zanpaktou on the mace head from there they dangle down four and six inches respectively back down the shaft. On the main part of the mace head there are three large plates that extend up off the top creating a raised section perfect for her to hit her opponents flat with.
Shikai Abilities:
Name: Mizu Chuuseki {Water Pillar}
Class: Offensive
Range: 25 feet maximum range, no minimum.
Description: This ability creates a circular pool of water ten feet across at the feet of her opponent. It combines the water in the air with her reiatsu and takes a few seconds to coalesce, but when it is fully pooled it explodes. If it connects it knocks the person into the air with the force of a large waterfall. This attack is just to knock the opponent off their feet as Xiao neglects to train in her abilities with her zan; instead she focuses on kidou training. This attack is rather easy to dodge should the opponent look down at his/her feet.
Name: Mizu Myakuhaku {Water Pulse}
Class: Offensive
Range: 15 feet effective range
Description: This ability creates a two foot wide three foot in length pulse of water from the top of Xiao's mace. This takes less time to coalesce the water and reiatsu into the attack so it shoots off almost instantly in the direction Xiao has the flat top of her mace pointed. Usually Xiao uses this to just knock close ranged opponents away from her allowing her the breathing room to attack with more kidou’s. More recently though she has realized that this attack can be used in a more offensive manner and has started using it as such. This attack is a step up in difficulty to dodge from Mizu Chuuseki.
Bankai Name: Gurēto taifū no ikari {Anger of the Great Typhoon} グレート台風の怒り
Bankai Description:
Upon uttering the cry of bankai she drops the mace toward the ground and it shatters as at first a unreleased looking zan enters her hands but then it morphs into a large golden trident. Upon grasping it she spins the trident and then she stabs outwardly into the heavy rain that began to fall all around her creating a zone of heavy winds and rain. The large crystals that followed her along from the shikai are now larger and hang off the base of the trident. The head of the trident is a brilliant gold in color with silver looking inlaid metal within it. The tips of each of the three prongs are pointed straight up without any barbs on it.
Xiao’s appearance has changed as well. Her robes and haori are gone as she is now clad within a set of armor that is set upon a ninja-esque looking cat suit. Around her forehead there is a golden headband with an intricate pattern of runes upon it. Upon her ears she has two large hanging crystals. The first is a dark blue in color while the other is a teal in color. The necklace around her neck remains and yet is now a swirled crystal of dark blue and a apparent light pink coloring.
On her shoulders and chest coral looking armor cover her vital places. Where the shoulder guards actually guard her neck from the sides. Upon her hands are gloves that are shaped as a watery looking glove which are made of metallic coral as well. Upon her feet is also clad in metallic coral. All of the metal coral look dragon like. Upon her hip there is a long cape that touches the ground and is a light blue to dark purple transition.
From where Xiao stand heavy rain and winds extend out from her to four hundred yards diameter. Within the massive zone the rain and winds are whipping at the speed of a category five hurricane while if she uses her hand or trident to focus them she can spin the winds up to a tornado of F5 or even higher in strength. The effect do lessen the further out from Xiao you go but so long as you are within the range of her bankai you will be buffeted by winds and rain of a category 3 hurricane.

Name: Mizu hasaki {Water Cutter Edge} 水刃先

Range: Long {40 yard maximum}
Description: Utilizing the howling winds and driving rain around her and combining it with her own reiatsu she creates blades of driving rain and wind. Each of the blades are twenty five feet in length and are two feet wide. She utilizes the head of her trident to guide and direct these blades through the air toward her target. These blades most quite fast but can be dodged by those skilled with shunpo/sonido. Also people who also have cutting waves identical to hers can cause her blades to deflect away by using their attack in defense.
Name: Mizu no dangan o kantsū suru {Piercing Water Bullet} 水の弾丸を貫通する
Class: Offensive
Range: 100 yards
Description: Focusing the falling rain onto the tip of zanpaktou she combines it with her own reiatsu to create a bullet of rain. The bullet is about three feet in diameter and stretch up to five feet in length. Each bullet has the concussive force of a fifty plus kidou. {She may fire up to four of these per battle post.}

Description: Slicing her zanpaktou across in front of her creates a spherical shield about Xiaoyu of pure water and reiatsu. It is capable of deflecting all but the highest powered Kidou’s, Cero Oscuras, or Fully powered Selee Schneider attacks. {Shield lasts two posts but vanishes shortly after.}
Name: Ame shukketsu no kyōfū {Gales of Bleeding Rain} 雨出血の強風
Class: Offensive
Range: Between two yards and a hundred yards
Description: After Xiaoyu is hurt she draws the reiatsu and water from her own shed blood. Changing the water into a crimson color that she uses to slice into her opponents with. The blades are made from the streaking winds and water surrounding her focused by the tip of her trident and then focused in a slashing motion in front of herself. {Maneuver can only be used twice per thread. Strength depends on how injured Xiaoyu is. If used when she is near death may kill her.}
Name: Unmei No Kaze {Winds of Destiny} 運命の風
Class: Offensive
Range: Melee Range
Description: Focusing her bankai into its most concentrated form the winds and water become a never ending swirl about Xiao’s body. The focusing reiatsu is so strong and powerful that this strains her small body to the point that if it is held for more than five minutes the power would shred Xiao apart. The attack however comes when Xiao brings her fist in and punches her opponent. The moment she makes contact all of the reiatsu and power comes bursting off her fist and directly into the target. {If not used in three posts will hurt and injure Xiao. Can be used once in a thread and instantly reseals Taifuu after use.}
Weaknesses of your Zanpaktou: The largest and most glaring weakness of the zanpaktou is the wielder herself. Xiaoyu does not kill anyone and will hesitate to do killing blows to other humanoid souls. She has been lenient on humanoid hollows in the past and during the war she would cripple her opponent or destroy the manufactured zanpaktou they carried thereby rendering them useless. Either that or she would break opponents bones or injure them in other ways. Also her smaller size makes it so that she has to put more reiatsu and swing a little harder within her attacks to get the full force of her attacks across.

I am doing this because the representatives of the seat of power have come to forcibly remove me from the seat I have held for eight hundred years. They want me to place a puppet upon the leadership throne that they can control and so they can resurrect the cult with which they are a part of. A cult that was mostly stamped out over a millennia ago when the Gotei was originally founded. “
Taking a breath she narrowed her eyes at the men standing before her. “And yet as I stand here looking down these men they look at me with self assured confidence in themselves… Inside of their own self assured victory. I however will not surrender my seat.. nor would I ask any of the captains in my command to do. This is a coup de ta attempt upon my life and upon the very foundation that the Gotei is founded on. I will stand idly by when people would do this to us. But I am a fair woman. If there are any Shinigami or Unbanded who do not wish to get involved within this war the Senkaimons to Earth will remain open to you with a collection of butterflies to take you wherever you wish. Raising her blade Xiaoyu swung it and a wave of water would burst from the blade and cause the five soldiers fall down as the other three fled rather quickly off into the distance. The war had begun and Xiaoyu wwould stand as a rock and wall in front of as many as she could.

Character Back-story / History:
Xiaoyu was born during the harsh winter months late within the early years of recorded history. She was quite weak and was not expected to survive her first months of life. As her mother had not survived her birth. Yet despite her weak nature she survived the harsh cold winter inside of Northern Japan. Despite that her life was still harsh as she was the youngest of nine children. At the age of seven she began to see figure darting within the trees around her family’s meager farm or around the shrine in town. She however did not tell anyone about this gift instead she began to hang around the shrine as the frightening figures did not follow her there. At the age of fourteen she was out when a travelling merchant with a penchant to take what he wanted decided to take the young woman. Xiaoyu fought back and the next thing she knew she was looking down at her body as it lay face down inside of a shallow pit in the ground. She screamed out and was upset with what had happened when she was approached by a tall older gentlemen. He had a sword at his hip and he came to sit beside her. Talking to her as a father would their child. Learning about him and his job. He stood up and raised his blade. “Come and find me within the Rukon young one. You will gladly be accepted into the Demizu family.”
With a flash of bright light she would find herself inside of the Rukongai. Asking a woman who passed her where she was she was told that she was within the third district of the Rukongai. Quickly she asked about the Demizu family and the woman smiled pointing toward a large manor on the edge of the third district. It was something that she was not expecting as it took her a few days to get there. Yet she felt no hunger, felt little pain and yet was enjoying her time within the district. Approaching the gate the same shinigami appeared at the gate. A wide smile appeared on his face as he guided Xiaoyu into the grounds and began to explain what all that happened and all the things needed for a shinigami to live within this world. He mentioned how he had noticed the fact she had been seeing things inside of the human world and explained what it was she had.
It took her several years to begin to feel the hunger and all the signs that the man had told her to watch out for. So now her father as she had grown to call him gave her the test needed and she was shown that she has spiritual pressure and it was growing rather rapidly as her hunger started to grow to what it should be. The books within the library of the home became her refuge when she was not heading to the local shinigami training grounds. After learning everything she could she was given a blank zanpaktou and within a few weeks she was already fully in control of the blade and she had begun to hear a voice speaking to her, but she did not notice nor pay attention to it.
Yet during her time at the small training academy she had become friends with another young woman named Khilee. After she graduated the academy she was placed into the same division as her ‘father’ and her friend was placed within the Shihonen division of the Gotei. With their paths diverted by this fate Xiao and Khilee attempted to stay as close as they could. Mostly by attempting to get paired on missions when they needed to go out on them. It was when Xiao was out on one of her missions that she first started hearing voices within her own head. First it was a simple whispering that she could ignore, but through the years it slowly got louder and louder to the point where she could not ignore it anymore. During one of these missions she got split up from her friend, and stumbled upon her friend unconscious with many wounds across her body. Running over to her friend she knelt down to check on her friend. That is when she was attacked and hit with a large blast of fire on her lower back. It burned through her shinigami robes leaving its permanent mark across her. Turning around she saw a hollow with a wicked grin on its face. Xiao was blocking out the pain that was coursing through her mind as she brought her sword up to fight this hollow. That is when she heard the voice scream out to her louder than it had ever done in the past. "Call out my name. If you do you will be able to save yourself and your friend. Call upon the name of Taifuu." A name screamed across her mind and from what she knew if she heard a name to call upon it would either be her zanpaktou speaking to her or she was going crazy. Hoping the first was true she looked down at the unreleased zanpaktou and placing both hands on the hilt she spoke the name of her zanpaktou. A swirl of reiatsu twisted around her and around her sword as she felt it changing. Grasping it tight she felt a new weight and power coming from the now changed blade. Looking at it she noticed that it was now a large mace and she confidently looked at the hollow. "You will die from hurting my friend." With that the hollow attacked Xiao. Xiao raised her mace and raised her right hand after removing it from the mace. She then pointed her fingers at the beast and spoke. "Byakurai." As soon as it left her mouth a crackle of electricity shot from her fingers and into the hollow. It howled in pain and stopped its attack. Sensing this opportunity she stuck hard and fast. Swinging down her new mace as hard as she could on the mask of the hollow she heard the shattering sound of the mask dissolving. It took a few seconds after the hit landed that the beast fell to the ground started to dissolve into the air. That is when she let the pain she had been repressing crash onto her which caused her to collapse forward. She stayed there in pain for a few minutes until she heard her friend speak up. "That was amazing Xiao... I guess our training has helped. I think though we may need slow down on it though for a little while."
They were soon rescued and sent to go recover inside the medical division. During that time as she recovered she spoke to her sword a couple of times within her inner world. This was her first ever trip within and she was taken aback at the grandeur of it. Talking to her zanpaktou she learned that she had correctly called his name and was not being allowed to use what she knew as her shikai. It was several weeks before her burns healed to a point where she was allowed to leave and return to duty. Returning to her barracks she was approached by her father and was told she was going to be seated as she has a verified shikai. With that the taicho gave her the 15th seat within the division. Not a very prestigious rank but one she could be happy with. She visited her friend in the medical division hospital with the news and they were both thrilled. Not much longer after that her friend was released and they began training again. No more than a week or two after Xiao had heard the scream and awoke her shikai her friend did the same thing, but it was during a training session between the two of them. Xiao hugged her friend in congratulations on the feat and starting the next day they both began training against one another using their shikai. It was many decades of this fighting and them slowly raising through the ranks until they both where 5th seats of their respected divisions.
At this time they were both dispatched to go and fight a rather strong hollow that had taken up a den inside of the human world. The two friends were confident in their abilities as they had been training with their shikai at the point for a century, and headed out to fight and kill this hollow. They snuck in to the warehouse the hollow had turned into its den and where disturbed by what they saw. A rather large hollow was standing staring directly at the spot they had entered through and was covered in the blood of what had to of been several earlier shinigami. Xiao looked at her friend who looked back at her. In a low voice Xiao spoke to Khilee. "We will need to destroy the mask fast... This beast looks incredibly strong." With a nod her friend her friend moved in front of Xiao as Xiao raised her right hand palm forward and pointed it at the hollow. Nodding again to Khilee she vanished with a shunpo as Xiao started an incantation to a powerful kidou "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!. Shakkaho. With that a large fireball leapt from her hands and hit the hollow on the side of its face awakening it, and angering the beast at the same time. It started moving just in time to catch Khilee as she exited her shunpo off to its right. With a quick swipe of its claws it caught her good sending her flying across the room and into the wall beside Xiao. Xiao saw her friend land and went over to her. Khilee spoke to Xiao. "I’m hurt already finish this beast before it gets us both..." Khilee then passed out and Xiao gripped her zanpaktou and spoke her release. "Daerou sono enkai touza uwadzutsumi ue temae, Taifuu." With that her mace appeared within her hands. Raising her mace she pointed it at the charging hollow. Then without saying anything a large blast of water came off the head of the mace hitting the hollow knocking it down and opening it up for a quick strike with her zanpaktou on its mask. She felt the mask start to crack and break underneath the strike but it was not enough. It awoke and tossed her across the warehouse and left her impaled on a broken railing on the second story catwalks that surrounded the open floor. As she looked down she watched as the hollow went toward her friend and stabbed her friend clean through with its claws.
Tears stung Xiaoyu’s eyes as she watched the scene before her. The hollow opened its mouth and was about to take a bit out of her friend when Xiao swung her mace and caught the railing that held her in place. She tumbled to the ground behind him and she glared as she staggered to her feet, Raising herself up she looked at the gloating hollow, and she raised her mace and attacked the beast once again. This time she dodged his swipe and hit the beast as hard as she possible could square in the mask shattering the remnants of the mask. As soon as she knew the hollow was dead she rushed to her friends side to find her in a large pool of blood and her breathes coming ragged and rapid. Xiao opened her friends uniform to check out the wounds. Upon seeing the wounds she clasped her hands to her mouth as the wounds where deep and untreatable. Her tears started up again as she looked at her friend who had reawaken. Looking down at the wounds she looked up at Xiao and she raised her hand wiping a tear from Xiao's face. With that she let her arm fall back down to her side and then she spoke to Xiao "Please... don..t .. worry.. about.. me.. Xiao.. Yo..u ..a ..re.. strong. Just... keep.. mov..ing alon..g ... Be .. strong. For.. both.. of.. our.. dre..am..s...." With that Xiao shook her friend but she knew it was to no avail. Her friend was dead and she was going to have to move on and carry on both of their dreams. Xiao looked at her as the tears came from her eyes and fell onto her friends cheeks. “You.. cant.. go. I.. I loved you Khilee… You can’t just die on me…” She stayed holding her friend as the medical corps finally arrived to come and retrieve Xiaoyu and her friend.
Xiaoyu’s stubbornness reared its ugly head as she refused medical attention other than to fix her immediately life threatening injuries healed up. Until her friend was interred into the ground she would not leave her side. After her friend was placed beneath the Earth Xiaoyu allowed the medical division to finally work on her. Due to her stubborn hard headedness she spent nearly a year inside of the hospital and corresponding grounds. She spent this year doing nothing but communing with her zanpaktou spirit learning its name and beginning to learn her name and her quirks and everything about her. She grew a lot during this time when she was speaking with Taifuu as she did. After this year passed she had been tasked with a new task. To find a so called Kenpachi out within one of the outer Rukon districts. Heading out there she was accosted and yet managed to fight off a group of men with the help of someone who became extremely important to her. Kimiko Nobunaga.
The woman had forsaken her families Noble Status and had wanted to become her own woman without their help. By all appearances she had as she patrolled that district and took the Kenpachi title to help them people instead of intimidate them. Xiaoyu had had a suicidal mindset during this time as she did not want to live without her best friend Khilee but she found someone in Kimiko that she could trust, someone she could care for, and eventually she would fall in love with. Yet it was during this time that she began to see Taifuu out of the corner of her eye. Standing there looking at her, or moving alongside her if she was walking or riding in a boat. It was then she decided to do some research within her father’s library. With Kimiko at her side she learned that it meant she could be on the cusp of a shinigami’s ultimate power. So she would have Kimiko train against her and one day while they trained far off in the Rukon the words scratched into her mind and she screamed out her bankai. The area beneath Xiaoyu scoured and created a small mark on the ground.
As the words were spoken she saw the humanoid form of Taifuu standing before her. She was between her and Kimiko and Kimiko mentioned who the girl was between them. Xiaoyu smiled and explained it to her companion as the spirit stood there. Explaining away what was to happen she nodded and Kimiko left to go gather medical supplies at Xiaoyu’s insistence. The fight began between Xiaoyu and her zanpaktou spirit. It would take several hours until the battle would end. The wind and water would subside around her as the battlefield where she had fought Taifuu had become a five foot deep crater with gracefully cut edges like that of natural erosion. Yet now she felt something new. An exponential growth within her reiatsu and she felt it slowly growing in strength. She had to continue to restrain herself that is until a new threat emerged about a little over 1300 years before current time. The cult that seemingly worshipping the figure they called V had taken hold within some of the outer Rukon Districts and had begun to become outwardly aggressive toward the shinigami. Xiaoyu encountered them after her father’s death. He had died inside of a patrol and his sword had been shattered. She mourned his loss and interred him into the family crypt. It was at this time she alongside her now lieutenant Kimiko Nobunaga and Rebecca Bradford where captured and were told about the rising threat the cult posed. After escaping after a massive battle Xiaoyu called a captains conference of all the heads of the families arriving.
Xiaoyu Demizu along with the other twelve captains; Rebecca Bradford, Akio Murano, Shiba Shihonen, Daisuke Tobiichii, Satoshi Tsukino, Ria Kinfuji, Carva Kuchiki, Xia Zhan, Liu Shoalin, Hayato Saionji, Jin Kamishiro Nobunaga. The heads of all the families had been used to calling of these meeting but this was the first time that Xiaoyu had called for one. As the Demizu’s normally were the most neutral of the collected families. Xiaoyu had come to the conclusion that while their current system worked it did not stop such radical factions from arising. So she proposed a reformation of the Gotei into a structure where the captains all had a voice and could voice what would happen but they would elect a single figure over them to decide things. The rest of the forum of captains agreed with her on the condition that the newly formed Gotei would crush these fanatics. Xiaoyu while not liking the proposition of taking the lives of these people agreed in order to secure a lasting peace. Seeing as this was all her idea Xiaoyu Demizu would be named the first leader of the assembly. The Soitaicho had been created for the Gotei 13 as they called themselves. As they began to ready for war they began to construct the base of operations for all thirteen of their families and those that were trained beneath them around the sacred Sokyokyu Hill. This area was to be known as the Seireitei. Within the grounds they built a place that representatives of the Rukongai would gather and help to keep the Gotei in check. As Xiaoyu had made it a point to create something to act as their counter balance. Something to keep the Gotei honest and balanced. Despite the future chaos this would bring it was a good move at the time as it won the newly created Gotei support of the people.
The war would be a long one as Xiaoyu would have to lead the Gotei on a district by district search. Scouring the countryside and every hole in the ground til they were certain that they had rooted out the dissenters and putting any who resisted to the sword put a strain on the young captain commander. She did not like the bloodshed and yet it was all over her hands. As soon as they had declared the last of the cultists dead she would turn her efforts inward. Remembering the small academy she had been trained within she collected all the families students and using the best craftsmen in the Rukon she constructed the Shinigami Academy. Taking her place at the head of the administration of the Gotei alongside her training of the students of the Academy Xiaoyu for the next eight hundred years things were in peace but unknown to Xiaoyu the very cult that she had helped found. Members had infiltrated the Gotei and the Central 46 structure. Until about thirty years before the Schism War ignited. Xiaoyu had been loved by many and when she had been attacked it sent shockwaves through the Gotei. She had been stabbed and nearly killed while they would be assassin had been subdued by Kimiko who by now had become married to Xiaoyu. The assassin declared that soon that the night would fall and chaos would return with V as its herald. Xiaoyu and the third division captain knew what this meant. Xiaoyu had to recognize the resignation of that captain as she did not want to have anything to do with another war like before.
So Xiaoyu took the resignation and her friend left the Gotei behind leaving for the human world. It was about this time she had something brought to her attention. There was a young girl within the Academy who looked surprisingly like Xiaoyu and her name was Rin Kamishiro. Name of one of the families that had helped her found the Gotei but had fallen away from the Gotei by this point. It brought an interesting thought to Xiaoyu’s mind. One she had shared with Kimiko. She would find a way to have the captain of the twelfth check her blood and compare it to Xiaoyu’s. When he did this she found out that she was somehow mother to this young girl and yet she knew for a fact she had never given birth. The twelfth division captain explained to Xiaoyu how such a thing could be possible and alongside Kimiko Xiaoyu would allow him to conduct tests to duplicate something that already seemed to of happened. Xiaoyu made it a point to ask the Central Forty Six with the evidence she had to take the girl into her care. This was to happen when the peace and serenity came crashing down around her and all the civilians of the Rukon and Seireitei.
It was a crisp autumn night when Xiaoyu was called out to the Sokyokyu Hill. Arriving she found herself standing before five men shrouded in all black and three members of the Central Forty Six. Greeting the men with formalities she asked why it was that she was there and they smiled at her. They asked her to step down from her position and to install one of their choosing. Xiaoyu was obviously incensed at their demands and denied them. That is when the five revealed themselves to be five long thought dead shinigami. Her eyes went wide and then narrowed as they began to pull their blades and demanded once more she step down. Reaching for her own blade Xiaoyu’s eyes flashed as she activated a kidou and began a speech to all those within the Seireitei and Rukon Districts. The fighting would be hard and more intense than it was during the initial war within which the Gotei was formed.
No sooner had the kidou began to fade then she was attacked by all five men at once. The first of which began throwing large chunks of the hill itself at Xiaoyu the second began to sends large waves of concentrated Reiatsu at her. Each of the men attacked her with seemingly their strongest attacks before Xiaoyu could fully react. Except for one thing, The Soitaicho knew of the Cicada and the figure in the middle of their combined attack vanished in a puff of smoke and Xiaoyu stood behind them on the top of the execution cross. Taking in a breath she exhaled and a hurricane force wind pinned all eight of the men onto the ground. As the men were jammed into the ground the ground itself began to give way as they all burst back out and charged at Xiaoyu.
The battle was intense and unknown to Xiao such battles were happening all across the Seireitei. Many would be struck down and many more injured. Even the Execution Hill itself would not survive the conflict as Xiaoyu in a final desperate attack sent the entire hill crashing down onto the five assailants crushing them all but as their lives were extinguished each of them exploded with massive force creating a crater where the hill used to be. Xiaoyu barely escaped that battle with her life. Being found by Kimiko as she was walking out toward their home far off in the Rukon. Going to her home she recuperated from the initial attack upon her and the Gotei began to reform into smaller more mobile pockets around the Rukon as the Seireitei became a battleground. Xiaoyu had some good news though as all of the students at the academy at the time of the wars start had managed to survive. Thanks in most part to her daughter and another student had held off the squad that had been sent to kill them all. Only knowing that they had survived when one of the teachers got the pair out of the rubble the next morning.
Rin had been brought to her and she had begun her training when she received the news from the twelfth captain. He had managed to survive the initial assault and had good news for her and Kimiko. Meeting him about a year after the war initially broke out he presented the pair with a daughter. One that was a mixture of Xiaoyu and Kimiko. Xiaoyu was ecstatic as she took Lhin from him and held her close. He also gave Xiaoyu a few pills and medical things that will help Lhin along and that will help Xiaoyu feed her. Ever grateful Xiaoyu thanked the other captain and would then raise both Rin and Lhin as best she could. Even when the pair outgrew her in size and stature Xiaoyu would do what she could to keep the war far from them and yet she could not do that forever.
About a hundred and fifty years into the war Xiaoyu was jumped during a massive battle. The rain around her hung in place and the winds became deathly quiet as she had been stabbed. Collapsing forward to the ground onto one knee she could see the twisted steel protruding through her stomach. A curdling feeling began to fill her gut as she smelled the smell of ozone fill the area around her and then came the immense pain. A loud cracking echoed out from the blade that had pierced her through. The electricity from the blade coursed through and out through the leg that was half submerged inside of a puddle. The sound of sizzling and Xiao’s voice screaming out in pain shot out across the eerie silence that the deadened winds created. The electricity stopped almost as quickly as it had begun. The sword was hurriedly pulled from her and Xiao found herself not having anything to counterbalance herself and she pitched forward onto the rain soaked ground. Glancing down her body still sparking ever so slightly as she did so she noticed her haori was destroyed and the bottom of her inner robes had been burned away along with her right leg just above her knee. Pretty much the entire part of her leg that had been submerged was gone. Seeing that her leg was gone caused Xiaoyu to collapse and her body twitched with the electrical discharge slowly leaving her body.
Xiaoyu would awaken several days later within a hidden medical facility. She looked around frantically as Kimiko and Lhin stood there. Placing a hand onto her chest Xiaoyu would use her other hand and run it down and feel nothing on her right side just below her knee. The moments came back into her mind and she clutched her blanket but was calmed by the presence of her youngest daughter and wife. She was approached by one of the healers and given her full prognosis. She lost her leg just above her knee, she had nerve damage within her arms and surviving leg. Taking a bunch of time she decided that it was time for her to step aside. She gave away her powers during the war to Hirato Murano. A fellow she had gave plenty of trust to during the war and before. So Xiaoyu stepped aside and began to assist in planning attacks and assaults alongside other smarter people within the Gotei. Victories came slowly but after another three hundred years of so of combat the war was over.
When the war was over there was open questions as to what the old veteran would do. Xiao had been there for the birth of the Gotei and helped see it through its darkest hours. Now she was at a cross roads. She could of retaken her position as it had been a conditional leadership role she had given Hirato but she did not. Instead she set up the rules of succession for the Soitaicho and she stepped aside and to a new goal. Returning to the grounds where the Academy had stood and she told those that had assembled there with her that she was going to rebuild the academy and run it herself.

Xiao stands at a meager five foot three. She has white hair and icy blue eyes. Her face is young looking and unscarred despite her age. Some describe her as having a somewhat 'innocent' looking face. She wears her hair up inside what most describe as two small wings that are about three to four inches in height and are located almost directly back from her ears. Around her neck she wears a special silver necklace with a crystal that is shaped identically to the one she has attached to her zanpaktou. Fitting her appearance she has a rather normal looking bust not much more than an average B cup. Her has several disfiguring scars upon her body. The largest culprits are the stab wounds that are upon her back. One of which was a through and through stab wound with matching wound beneath her bosom. Alongside the stab wound there is a faded and healed over burn upon her lower back just above her tailbone area. Despite her bookish appearance she is surprisingly strong due to the war having made her into a much more capable fighter. Her arms and legs are long, slender, and well toned despite her penchance of being a bookworm. She takes particular care to keep her hands as to her they are the most important thing. Even taking time to make certain they are well cared for.
She wears the traditional shinigami robes and a custom designed and manufactured captains haori. Her personal touches have not been lost within her modifications to her robes. She has the arms cut with two large openings for when she uses kidous it does not damage either the captains haori or her inner robes. Around her arms she has two dark blue wraps circling up her arms with her elbows and forearms left free. These are tied together on her biceps where they hang down about four inches from her. As she is only barely above five feet tall she carries her zanpaktou across her back with the hilt of her zanpaktou being over her right shoulder. It is attached to her main outfit through a beautifully crafted silken sash that is a light blue in color. The sash attaches to a sash she had made to hold her uniform closed and tight to her body. It attaches right above her left hip, and it is tied together in a tight knot that in a pinch she can undo.
Whenever she has off hours within the Seireitei she likes to wear a rather simple looking light blue kimono. The kimono has a pattern around the lower sections depicting a series of waves washing toward shore indicating her love of the water. She also lets her hair down normally when relaxing and at full extension it reaches the small of her back. Normally she can also be found with a small satchel on her waist that carries a single book. What that book is always changing as she reads many different topics of fluctuating interest. She also likes to carry a simple cup that she uses for her own tea which she drink religiously.
During missions to the human world inside her gigai she has a real flair to show off her creative side. Her gigai wears small crystal earrings that hang from the pierced earlobes. Around the neck of the gigai is a duplicate to her regular necklace. Her top is a white and light blue tube top. She has a small crystal stud pierced through her belly button, it is also the same style and color as the other three crystals on her person. Around her waist she wears a type of skirt where she has it tied at her left hip with a dark blue sash. The skirt then wraps around her right side fully covering her right leg. It covers all of her 'nether' regions as she tries to be modest even in her gigai.
Personality:
Xiaoyu was a shy and timid girl until she had to grasp her destiny. When she took upon the mantle from her adoptive father was when she began to come out of her shell and a very confidant woman. Most of the time however when she is off duty she would prefer to be left alone or spend time with her daughters and wife. Even despite this Xiaoyu does have moments where she is quieter than expected from one with her power and former position. She is loyal to the dream of her adoptive father and those of her fallen friends. She will do whatever it takes when it comes down to it to get those dreams to occur.
Accompanying her shy nature she is naturally attracted to being rather studious, quiet young woman. Almost always preferring the company of books and paperwork over those of other shinigami unless they are breaking bread or sharing a cup of her favorite tea. Despite her bookish nature she will deviate from plans when the situation calls for it. She is not against improvisation as that is how some of those closest to her say her mind works. That type of reading though has also made her believe that there is usually situations that her books will not cover. In those situations she will rely upon the others nearby and as soon as she figures out what they are planning she will jump up and help lead whatever plan it is. Normally when it comes to leading a situation or leave it for someone else to do it she will jump up so long as it follows what she knows.
Her loyalty to others is only evident in those she allows close to her. Those who she does befriend see a really happy bubbly woman who has her moments where she becomes super serious and allows her natural brain to shine through. Xiao always has a smile on her face though as to her the world is still something perfect despite the amount of death and betrayal she has seen and been proxy to. Some would call her naive to the way the world works, but to those people Xiao would just smile and tell them that she always believes in the best. When she is inside a bad mood or has something bother her facial expression usually changes to an indifferent look to it. She is also prone to when off duty just staring off into the sky whether it be day or night. Most of the time though she is usually deep in thought about something that is bothering her whenever she acts this way. Normally she can keep the stare up for what seems like hours but to her it is only a matter of minutes, and she quickly snaps out of it. She usually has the answer to what is usually bothering her when she went into the trance. Her smile will return to her face when she comes out of the trance as well.
Despite how she acts super serious all the time there are moments where she acts like a fool and unwinds. More often than not it occurs with her being inadvertently hit on. This illicit a deep crimson blush on her face her beginning to babble a little incoherently. Other times she will punch the person on the shoulder or arm in fun but accidentally hit them as hard as she can. When frustrated by something simple she will huff and puff like a spoiled brat but if people are watching she will attempt to keep these outbursts down to an absolute minimum. In other words she will try to internalize the outburst as best she can. This is usually accompanied by her stomping the ground with her fists balled up tight. The only other thing that really gets her riled up is when someone calls her a child. Her appearance can be a deterrent for others to call her anything else but when they do she will explode at them with an outburst of expletives and sour language.
---COMBAT---
Fighting Style: Xiao prefers to fight at range; using kidous and her zanpaktou as an absolute last resort. Her use of kidous are a combination of both binding and destruction kidous to keep her opponent at a comfortable range. Usually when she connects with a binding kidou and the opponent is immobilized is when she moves in fast with a shunpo and attacks using wither her released or unreleased zan. Her tactics for fighting a longer ranged opponent is modified from this. She will utilize her zan's released state and powers to create the exploding towers of water underneath her opponent causing them to constantly dodge around. Then she will strike with a binding kidou and attack directly once again. Whenever she becomes flustered in combat though her tactics change and she will toss at her opponent some of her weaker destruction kidou’s in the hopes they get caught in one and she will be able to return to her usual tactics.
As she uses kidou’s as her primary attacks during combat she usually takes a little while to try and understand her opponent. That usually involves her dodging around their attacks if possible. As she 'feels out' her opponent like this she will make feint attacks at any openings the opponent leaves for her to exploit. Occasionally she will toss in a lower leveled kidou in to keep the opponent off balance and guessing. Whenever she is done 'feeling out' her opponent she will usually hit them with a mid level kidou and then release her unreleased zan into her shikai'd state.

Zanpakuto Name: Taifuu {Typhoon}
Zanpakuto Appearance: Xiao's sealed zanpaktou is a regular katana in every way except for the coloring upon the entirety of the katana. Firstly the sheath appears to be made of a smooth coral like material. The coral has been discolored and is a dark blue in color. On both the top and on the bottom of the sheath there are silver colored coverings that protect both ends. Secondly the hilt is wrapped with a dark blue colored silk like material, it is intertwined with a light sea blue color treated leather like material. The guard upon her blade is shaped like a teardrop and when held correctly the pointed end is always pointed at Xiao. Upon the guard there hangs two small blue crystals. They hang down from the cutting edge side of the blade about two to three centimeters. Lastly her blade is teal in color other than the cutting edge which is a fine white in color.
Zanpaktou Inner World: Xiao's inner world is one of a constantly churning sea surrounding a small island. Upon this island is a temple dedicated to her zanpaktou spirit. The temple is made completely out of coral and has random bits and pieces of sea life randomly clinging to it as if there had just been a large wave. She refers to her inner world as hitoshirezu tengoku {Hidden Paradise}. On the island surrounding the temple is an ever fluctuating eco system of differing birds and trees. Above the sky of the island is a constant sunny sky while the surrounding ocean is a perpetual typhoon. At the peak of the temple there is a large open aired altar that looks almost like a sacrificial altar. That is where she has ever found Taifuu, but the exception to this is when she walks around within her mind she sees the spirit flying in the calm air surrounding the island.
When Xiao's mood swings the sky and waves also change. When upset or angered the waves and wind on the island become uncontrollable and splash over the island destroying the trees and wildlife. Whenever she is in a good mood the seas are barely above a steady wave pattern and the wind does not howl. When saddened or in a melancholy state of mind the island slowly sinks into the ocean swallowing up all the trees and wildlife
Zanpaktou Spirit Appearance: Her spirit is of a large water bound phoenix. The majestic bird is a deep darkened blue with flickering shades of lighter blues hidden within its feathers. Its beak and talons are razor sharp and are as the spirit puts it 'symbols of strength'. This bird is almost an exact duplicate of Xiao's intelligence but where she is timid and shy he is boisterous and outgoing. On many an occasion Xiao has gotten into arguments with her zanpaktou spirit about doing things other than secluding herself or reading; when others were out having a good time and had invited her. Whenever she visits the bird atop its temple she is always greeted warmly and with an honor she always forgot about.
Yet whenever Taifuu wishes she can take the form of a human. When she does she stands nearly seven feet tall and has long flowing light blue hair. The hair extends down to her waistline. Her form is always rolling with light mist from within her robes. Her robes are a dark blue with silver trim and silver sash around her waist. Her hands are narrow almost talon like and her skin is a little rough to the touch.
It has revealed to her over the years that it retains almost all of the knowledge that she reads despite her not ever asking him to. So that mean that during her days Xiao likes to communicate with Taifuu as she considers him a wise council. This often comes in handy as if she becomes stumped upon a subject normally she would only have to ask Taifuu. Usually though her talks with Taifuu eventually spin off into intellectual debates with the spirit, and she forgets the entire reason she came into her mind to speak with him.
Shikai Release Phrase: Daerou sono enkai touza uwadzutsumi ue temae, Taifuu {May the ocean current cover over you, Typhoon}
Shikai Appearance: Upon uttering her release phrase her sword vanishes and is replaced by a rather menacing looking mace. It is now the about half the length of her original katana and to her feels more natural to use.
The mace is dark blue and white in color. The hilt and main stock of the weapon are a deep blue in color, but as you near the head of the mace is slowly lightens up into a glass like look to the color. Inside the mace head the dark blue has turned into a light sea blue that extends throughout the mace head. At the connection point between the shaft and the mace head there is a large blue gem. The mace head has two large prongs that contour down the sides of the shaft about a quarter of the way back down the shaft. There are two crystals identical to the one that hung from the unreleased zanpaktou on the mace head from there they dangle down four and six inches respectively back down the shaft. On the main part of the mace head there are three large plates that extend up off the top creating a raised section perfect for her to hit her opponents flat with.
Shikai Abilities:
Name: Mizu Chuuseki {Water Pillar}
Class: Offensive
Range: 25 feet maximum range, no minimum.
Description: This ability creates a circular pool of water ten feet across at the feet of her opponent. It combines the water in the air with her reiatsu and takes a few seconds to coalesce, but when it is fully pooled it explodes. If it connects it knocks the person into the air with the force of a large waterfall. This attack is just to knock the opponent off their feet as Xiao neglects to train in her abilities with her zan; instead she focuses on kidou training. This attack is rather easy to dodge should the opponent look down at his/her feet.
Name: Mizu Myakuhaku {Water Pulse}
Class: Offensive
Range: 15 feet effective range
Description: This ability creates a two foot wide three foot in length pulse of water from the top of Xiao's mace. This takes less time to coalesce the water and reiatsu into the attack so it shoots off almost instantly in the direction Xiao has the flat top of her mace pointed. Usually Xiao uses this to just knock close ranged opponents away from her allowing her the breathing room to attack with more kidou’s. More recently though she has realized that this attack can be used in a more offensive manner and has started using it as such. This attack is a step up in difficulty to dodge from Mizu Chuuseki.
Bankai Name: Gurēto taifū no ikari {Anger of the Great Typhoon} グレート台風の怒り
Bankai Description:
Upon uttering the cry of bankai she drops the mace toward the ground and it shatters as at first a unreleased looking zan enters her hands but then it morphs into a large golden trident. Upon grasping it she spins the trident and then she stabs outwardly into the heavy rain that began to fall all around her creating a zone of heavy winds and rain. The large crystals that followed her along from the shikai are now larger and hang off the base of the trident. The head of the trident is a brilliant gold in color with silver looking inlaid metal within it. The tips of each of the three prongs are pointed straight up without any barbs on it.
Xiao’s appearance has changed as well. Her robes and haori are gone as she is now clad within a set of armor that is set upon a ninja-esque looking cat suit. Around her forehead there is a golden headband with an intricate pattern of runes upon it. Upon her ears she has two large hanging crystals. The first is a dark blue in color while the other is a teal in color. The necklace around her neck remains and yet is now a swirled crystal of dark blue and a apparent light pink coloring.
On her shoulders and chest coral looking armor cover her vital places. Where the shoulder guards actually guard her neck from the sides. Upon her hands are gloves that are shaped as a watery looking glove which are made of metallic coral as well. Upon her feet is also clad in metallic coral. All of the metal coral look dragon like. Upon her hip there is a long cape that touches the ground and is a light blue to dark purple transition.
From where Xiao stand heavy rain and winds extend out from her to four hundred yards diameter. Within the massive zone the rain and winds are whipping at the speed of a category five hurricane while if she uses her hand or trident to focus them she can spin the winds up to a tornado of F5 or even higher in strength. The effect do lessen the further out from Xiao you go but so long as you are within the range of her bankai you will be buffeted by winds and rain of a category 3 hurricane.

Name: Mizu hasaki {Water Cutter Edge} 水刃先

Range: Long {40 yard maximum}
Description: Utilizing the howling winds and driving rain around her and combining it with her own reiatsu she creates blades of driving rain and wind. Each of the blades are twenty five feet in length and are two feet wide. She utilizes the head of her trident to guide and direct these blades through the air toward her target. These blades most quite fast but can be dodged by those skilled with shunpo/sonido. Also people who also have cutting waves identical to hers can cause her blades to deflect away by using their attack in defense.

The bullet is about three feet in diameter and stretch up to five feet in length. Each bullet has the concussive force of a fifty plus kidou. {She may fire up to four of these per battle post.}

Description: Slicing her zanpaktou across in front of her creates a spherical shield about Xiaoyu of pure water and reiatsu. It is capable of deflecting all but the highest powered Kidou’s, Cero Oscuras, or Fully powered Selee Schneider attacks. {Shield lasts two posts but vanishes shortly after.}

Range: Between two yards and a hundred yards
Description: After Xiaoyu is hurt she draws the reiatsu and water from her own shed blood. Changing the water into a crimson color that she uses to slice into her opponents with. The blades are made from the streaking winds and water surrounding her focused by the tip of her trident and then focused in a slashing motion in front of herself. {Maneuver can only be used twice per thread. Strength depends on how injured Xiaoyu is. If used when she is near death may kill her.}
Name: Unmei No Kaze {Winds of Destiny} 運命の風
Class: Offensive
Range: Melee Range
Description: Focusing her bankai into its most concentrated form the winds and water become a never ending swirl about Xiao’s body. The focusing reiatsu is so strong and powerful that this strains her small body to the point that if it is held for more than five minutes the power would shred Xiao apart. The attack however comes when Xiao brings her fist in and punches her opponent. The moment she makes contact all of the reiatsu and power comes bursting off her fist and directly into the target. {If not used in three posts will hurt and injure Xiao. Can be used once in a thread and instantly reseals Taifuu after use.}
Weaknesses of your Zanpaktou: The largest and most glaring weakness of the zanpaktou is the wielder herself. Xiaoyu does not kill anyone and will hesitate to do killing blows to other humanoid souls. She has been lenient on humanoid hollows in the past and during the war she would cripple her opponent or destroy the manufactured zanpaktou they carried thereby rendering them useless. Either that or she would break opponents bones or injure them in other ways. Also her smaller size makes it so that she has to put more reiatsu and swing a little harder within her attacks to get the full force of her attacks across.

Raising her blade Xiaoyu swung it and a wave of water would burst from the blade and cause the five soldiers fall down as the other three fled rather quickly off into the distance. The war had begun and Xiaoyu wwould stand as a rock and wall in front of as many as she could.
