The Captain Commander looked upon the door to the Kagurazaki mansion with interest, wondering what kind of home belonged to the Quincy clan that had maintained leadership of the Order of the Holy Cross for quite some time. If he recalled correctly, the Kagurazaki clan had kept the position of Kaiser in the family for a century and a half, following the decline of the Honda clan. Hirato did not know what had happened to the Honda clan, but the Kagurazaki had been the Order's Kaisers for generations now. The red haired Shinigami put his hand up and found a barrier protecting the front door, then circled around the house to find that it surrounded the entire estate. Renko had clearly maintained strict security protocols but Hirato grinned as he realized he could infiltrate the house nonetheless.
Using his Shadow Form, Hirato passed right through the barrier and made his way into the mansion. Ordinarily, the barrier would have prevented such access but in his Shadow Form, he technically remained at some point between existence and non-existence. Thankfully, it would not be an issue threatening Renko's safety. No one besides himself could use that technique and it remained difficult for him to control, even after all this time. "She's not home, naturally." Hirato commented quietly, having sensed no reiatsu signatures besides his own in the entire house. Renko's reiatsu signature was so powerful that he would have noticed it immediately. It was also quite unique, appropriate for a woman that.....
He stopped his train of thought right there. Hirato had no intention of ruining a second interaction with his uncertainty and vague feelings regarding a woman he had only met a few times. The Captain Commander continued walking through the Kagurazaki mansion, noting that its opulence matched the prestige of the family that dominated the Quincy. Despite her strength, Renko had suffered severe injuries during her battle with the new Reyes known as Shidare. Hirato rubbed his eyes as a flare of concern poured from his heart. "Why can't I shake these feelings?" he asked no one, speaking softly to himself as he considered his last meeting with Renko. She had refused medical treatment in favor of returning to the human world to settle her business, another action that only increased his concern for Renko.
Hirato respected her as a leader and thought of her last words to him with a smile. Renko had said that he should rest up after she left. Though she had apologized for letting her 'doctor side' show itself, Hirato had silently appreciated it. Renko showing such concern for his well-being, even if it was accidental, pleased him. Hirato sat on her couch and put his head back, saying, "Renko is a lovely woman," commenting on her genuine concern for others though his words were true in other ways as well. When he closed his eyes, he saw Renko as she had appeared in his office: injured, worried, but still beautiful and graceful. Hirato covered his face with his right hand.
Objectifying the Kaiser of the Quincy, even if it was silent and internal, was probably a bad idea. It wasn't her appearance that he found himself interested in, though. It was.... Hirato stopped himself again, finding his uncertainty about how he felt increasing even more. He hadn't experienced that feeling in quite a while, not since an era that now felt out of place with the suffering and chaos he had endured in recent times. Hirato was certain that Renko had endured similar suffering, with the loss of her parents and now the rising threat of an Arrancar invasion. "It's dangerous everywhere, isn't it?" Hirato asked another rhetorical question, realizing that there was no one else to answer him. He yawned widely and recognized that he was feeling exhausted after a long and stressful day in Soul Society.
His blue eyes examined the home until he found a blanket and took off both his Haori and his shirt. Keeping them on would make it impossible to sleep. Hirato laid down on Renko's couch and covered himself with the blanket. He did not fall asleep immediately, though. Hirato thought about the past and the unclear future that he and Renko now confronted. Yawning again, Hirato closed his eyes and fell asleep, a sleeping Captain Commander in the fox's den...
