Hirato listened to Xiaoyu give her advice about fighting this Arrancar queen. She said that it was a good idea to avoid fighting in an area with an abundance of sand or dirt, since the Arrancar would feel right in her element in such an area. The Captain Commander simply nodded as Xiaoyu added that the Arrancar queen had certainly developed new tactics after her fight with Xiaoyu and reaffirmed the Arrancar's power. "Well, it's a good thing we have such different fighting styles and specialties, then," Hirato responded simply, sounding fairly confident even though he was only stating a fact. His specialty was his swordsmanship while Xiaoyu's specialty was Kido.

Thankfully, Xiaoyu also had a vastly different Zanpakuto than him. Her Zanpakuto was the strongest Zanpakuto that manipulated water while his was the strongest that manipulated wind. The Captain Commanded looked up with interest as Xiaoyu stated that it might be possible to reason with this Arrancar queen. "Is that so? Well, I will do my best to reason with her..." Hirato replied, thinking of how the Arrancar queen had attacked Renko in Karakura Town. Did she have a greater purpose in doing that? Was she only trying to reveal herself to himself and Renko?

He didn't know. The red haired Shinigami looked at Xiaoyu with some concern as she stood up and begrudgingly admitted that she might need a new prosthetic leg. "Indeed," he commented quietly, then paused and added, "If the Arrancar queen isn't open to reason, then I will simply have to crush her with force," his tone perfectly composed and yet fully committed. If crushing this Arrancar was necessary to preserve the safety and security of the Soul Society, then that was exactly what he would do. Hirato thought of Renko, quietly beginning to devise a plan if he was indeed compelled to fight this Arrancar...

“That is most certainly true. Where I could toy with an opponent at range with kido you could do the same up close before finishing them off… Yet neither of us are real slouches in the others department just that we are both barely worse than the other since we helped one another get greater inside these areas.” She spoke softly as she got settled once more. The prosthetic finally being decent to her. Her ears perked up and she nodded at him when he said that he would try his best to reason with her. It was something new to hear from him as Hirato of old would of wanted to go in there all gung ho and fight her and attempt to kill her. This new Hirato was a welcome thing for her.

“That is good to know that you are no longer closing out the diplomatic route with certain individuals.” Xiao’s own mind was filled with what ifs and why did shes when it came to Shidare’s outpouring. As for her it would seem that she was trying her damndest to be seen and heard. Which was unusual for someone as careful as she normally was. In fact Xiaoyu remembered that they had only ran into and fought one another purely by chance. They had both been in the same area at the same time and had crossed blades as she was trying to consume a hollow that Xiaoyu had killed.

The Captain Commander simply nodded as Xiaoyu discussed their respective strengths. While she certainly held the edge in Kido, he was confident that his swordsmanship was superior to hers. Of course, Hirato was still aware that there was a gap in their abilities, which did not bother him. She was a valued ally, so any difference in their respective strength was of little consequence to him. The Captain Commander looked up at her when she discussed how they had trained together and helped each other improve in their weaker areas. "Yes, I vividly recall training with you. My Kido still isn't my strong suit, but it's much better thanks to you." Hirato replied, remembering the time he had spent training with his predecessor. While he had known she was powerful, her strength was yet more apparent to him when they began training together.

Hirato noticed that Xiaoyu seemed mildly surprised that he was willing to consider the diplomatic route. Sometimes, how much he had changed surprised even himself. Still, pursuing a peaceful solution with this new Arrancar leader was something he felt he should at least attempt. The red haired Shinigami bitterly remembered the last time Soul Society had gone to war and it was with itself, leading to staggering casualties and enormous damage. He had no intention of going to war with this Arrancar queen unless there was no other option. The Captain Commander listened as Xiaoyu commented on his changed behavior, seeming to appreciate it.

"I suppose we've both changed. I've fought Hollow and Arrancar for centuries, but if there's an opportunity for peace, I must take it." he commented quietly, thinking over the possibility. Hirato expected that a great deal of the Shinigami and Renko would oppose him in this endeavor, but he would do everything in his power to win them over. It was critical to present a united front when offering peace. Otherwise, the offer was utterly meaningless. He continued to ponder how best to discuss this subject with the Captains and Renko. Convincing the Kaiser that this was the correct course of action would take some considerable effort. He was certain of that...

“Well if you ever need lessons let me know as my door will always be open to everyone. It is the least I can do before this old body gives out on me… Though I doubt that is going to happen for a long time still.” She would speak softly but with her usual purpose. For the first time in a very long time she had something to live for which was to see her daughters grow and continue on with their lives to the point that she could fade into the background.

Taking a few moments she would stand up slowly. Making certain that her leg was reattached and she looked up at Hirato. Taking a few more moments she would speak up. “I will be heading back to my home now. I hope that everything goes well until we can start going back and forth once again.”

The Captain Commander listened intently when Xiaoyu gave him advice about how to effectively battle the Arrancar queen. Apparently, she favored areas with plenty of dirt or sand and taking her out of such environments might give him an edge in this showdown. This was valuable information so Hirato would heed it carefully. Thankfully, he was comfortable with and perhaps even preferred fighting in mid-air, his Zanpakuto allowing him to control wind at his discretion. Perhaps he could use his abilities to restrict the Arrancar queen's ability to fight back effectively, but he wasn't sure. "I'll take that into consideration," was all Hirato said as his mind returned to winning the battle long before it ever begun.

Xiaoyu also seemed to believe that reasoning with the Arrancar queen was possible due to the Arrancar's curiosity during their encounter. He rubbed his chin and remained quiet. The relationship between the Arrancar and the Shinigami had always remained volatile, often becoming openly violent. Repairing the damage of past events would prove quite challenging, but at the same time, Hirato did not wish the Gotei 14 to endure another war while they were still rebuilding from the last one. "I'll do my best to find a peaceful solution to our differences," the Captain Commander replied, the noncommittal nature of his words simply stemming from realism. In his experience, Arrancar were not open to negotiation and even if this Arrancar queen was different, the Order of the Holy Cross as well as his own Shinigami would likely oppose such a move.

Renko, the Kaiser of the Order, was recently attacked by this Arrancar queen. Technically, this meant that the Arrancar and the Gotei 14 were already at war under the terms of the Quincy-Shinigami alliance. However, if he could convince Renko and his own Shinigami to go along with it, perhaps peace was a possibility. Hirato looked at Xiaoyu standing uneasily with concern. When she agreed with his earlier suggestion to consult the 12th division in order to make a better prosthetic leg, the Captain Commander merely nodded. His mind was almost entirely occupied with the question of what to do about this Arrancar queen...

“Then I taught you well if you are already beginning to think of ways to limit her movements and abilities or counterattack. It is never a bad thing to think about thing that might go south or… Knowing her as I think I do she might try to instigate something to test herself against you.” Xiaoyu’s words would come out as she stood up and looked out the window once more. Taking a few more moments to think on things.

Taking a few more moments of time to clear up her mind. Rotating her neck lightly she would speak up once more. “Be safe when you go see Renko and the others. She will need the help. Especially if Shidare comes and goes to the human world often. Though I will reiterate that I feel that it might be her curiosity once more…”

Moving ever so slightly she would turn her gaze and smile a tired smile toward him. Yawning ever so slightly she would cover her mouth. “Apologies but I think it is time for me to get going. A simple bit of food and a simple meal will be good for me to do. I hope that things go good enough for you Hirato. It is good to know that you will be the one that will lead everyone.”

Hirato simply nodded when Xiaoyu said that she had taught him well since he was already thinking of ways to limit Shidare's effectiveness in battle. It was true. He had many excellent teachers in the art of combat, including Xiaoyu. "You were an excellent teacher," Hirato responded, reminiscing about the time they had spent together as teacher and student. That time seemed ages ago and now he had a possible student in the 2nd division lieutenant Fumiko Zhan, who seemed like a dutiful Shinigami. The transition from student to teacher was one that impressed on him just how old he was, though his powers were now at their peak.

Xiaoyu commented that Renko and the Order would need his assistance, especially if Shidare visited the human world often. Hirato frowned slightly. Naturally, the business of dealing with Shidare troubled him, but the danger to the human world also threatened his own son, Hiro. Hiro was operating as a liaison between the 13th division and the Order, meaning that he would personally involved in containing any dangerous situations there. Hirato respected Hiro's drive to do the right thing and his potential, but his selfless commitment to protecting the innocent reminded him a little too much of his mother.

The Captain Commander worried constantly that his son would perish in the human world saving someone. Hirato shook himself out of his thoughts and said, "I'm not interested in Shidare's motives. If she's a threat, I will eliminate her. If I can negotiate with her, then I'll make her an ally or at least a neutral force." his tone colored by concern about the human world and his son, more specifically. The Soul Society could not afford another lengthy, costly conflict with the Arrancar. If war officially began between the Gotei 14 and Shidare's Arrancar, Hirato would see to it that she and whatever kingdom she pretended to possess were utterly and quickly destroyed.

He looked up with mild surprise as Xiaoyu yawned, then expressed her confidence in his ability to lead the Gotei 14 and said she should go. Hirato smiled to himself. "I appreciate the vote of confidence, Xiaoyu. Of course. I'll see you later," the Captain Commander replied, using her name without honorifics for the first time. Hirato would prove himself worthy of her confidence by first crushing the Arrancar who dared to defile Soul Society soil with their presence then moving onto Shidare's forces. Making peace with them would jeopardize the Shinigami-Quincy alliance, but if peace was possible, he had to pursue it for the good of the Soul Society. Such was the burden of leadership...
