The war between the Gotei and the Central Forty Six was horrible and brutal. Starting from the opening evening when the unbanded omnikitsudou of the Central Forty Six attacked the main headquarters of each of the Gotei. Many were caught unaware and were cut down except for a few of the divisional headquarters who had either closed up early for the night or if the captain fought back. Starting from the top down as Xiaoyu Demizu was caught out by the grandest weapon that the Central had within their disposal.
1st Divisional Happenings: The first is now lead by Hirato Murano as per orders of Xiaoyu Demizu. She gave him full control of the Gotei after she was injured but she had remained the Soitaicho in name til the war was over. Now the position is up for grabs but Hirato seems to be the shoe in to win the upcoming captain election.
2nd Divisional Happenings: Was nearly wiped out as the battles between them and unbanded became almost a personal grudge match. Currently led by their surviving fukotaicho Fumi-ko Zhan. A descendant of of the original founders of the Gotei.
The Third Division was mostly wiped out during the initial attacks of the unbanded. A few of the lower seats managed to escape and become runners of information that they could access within the building until the unbanded destroyed the building about two centuries into the war.
4th Divisional Happenings: Most of their knowledge and technology was saved by their Captain and Lieutenant. They adhere to a human world doctrine of the dealing no harm to any patient. The 4th Division was instrumental in keeping casualties as low as possible during the war, though of course, many Shinigami perished.
The 4th Division has made great progress toward rebuilding their division as the Gotei 13's medical center and treats injured Shinigami regularly.
5th Divisional Happenings: Now led by the daughter of Xiaoyu and Kimiko. The distinguished captain leads with her older sister as her fukotaicho and are a feared duo in combat.
6th Divisional Happenings: Is now being led by the fifteenth head of the Kuchiki Family. The previous two heads of the family passing during the Schism War.
7th Divisional Happenings: The 7th's Captain and Lieutenant died during the Civil War. The 3rd Seat preferred to remain in his current position, so the Tsukino Clan took over the division. Their current head is now the 7th Division Captain and their heir is the 7th Division Lieutenant.
8th Divisional Happenings: Like many other divisions, the 8th lost its Captain and Lieutenant in the Civil War. The 3rd Seat eventually proved that they were worthy of the Captaincy, however, so now the former 3rd Seat is the Captain and the former 4th Seat moved up the ranks to become the new Lieutenant.
9th Divisional Happenings: The 9th Division was led by Hirato Murano during the Civil War. It suffered fewer casualties during the conflict due to Hirato's competent and brave leadership, though some of the higher ranked seated officers did die. Hirato intended to leave the Captaincy to Nao, his lieutenant, but Nao disappeared shortly after the beginning of the Civil War. Due to this, the 9th's 3rd Seat was promoted to the position.
10th Divisional Happenings:
11th Divisional Happenings: Was mostly wiped out due to them as being the main foot-soldiers of the Gotei during the war. The only unit to survive was the one involving Zaraki, the Kenpachi. Though the captain kept that title going as a mythos against the unbanded.
12th Divisional Happenings: Being reformed after the war destroyed most of their main research facilities. Responsible for the advances during the war including robotic style limbs and blank sword production. Now has begun rebuilding their laboratories and foundries.
13th Divisional Happenings: The 13th Division was led by Kyouya Morinozuka during the Civil War. He sacrificed his life to protect the division in the fierce fighting and his Lieutenant did the same. Similar to the 8th, the former 3rd Seat of the 13th took up the position of Captain eventually and the former 4th Seat became the new Lieutenant.
The 13th is now the only major division that ventures into the human world on a regular basis. Interestingly, Hiro Murano, the Captain Commander's youngest son, joined this division and now serves as its 7th Seat.
Shinigami Persons of Interest:
Xiaoyu Demizu: Fought during the war til about the quarter in portion of it. She was badly injured and lost half of her right leg. After surviving her injuries she retired from active fighting but had become an advisor til the war ended. As the war came to its close she turned her attentions to rebuilding the Shinigami Academy. She would not interfere with the Gotei as she now worked to train the next generation and make certain the mistakes of the past were not repeated.
Kimiko Demizu: Continued the fight against the Central Forty Six. Was one of the central figures of the war.
